The highest sports authorities of Aruba will attend the NORCECA Congress

 

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, October 8, 2007.- The XIX NORCECA Congress will take place in Oranjestad, Aruba on October 27-28 and thirty-two of the 35 National Federations affiliated to the institution have already confirmed its participation.

 

The Congress will be dedicated to the honour of Mr. Jacques Joachim of Haiti, Mr. Ramon Rico of Netherlands Antilles and the late Mr. Rafael Hosein of Trinidad & Tobago.

 

The secretariat of NORCECA released on Monday the agenda for the two-day meeting at the Radisson Aruba Hotel & Casino and the opening session include the participation of the highest sports authorities of the country.

 

Mr.Celestino Lesire, President of the Aruba Volleyball Association, Mr. Leoncio Johan Maduro, President of the Aruba National Olympic Committee, Mr. T.F. Ramon Lee, Minister of Sports of Aruba and Ms. Nicole Hoevertsz, Representative of the International Olympic Committee in Aruba, will address the audience with welcoming speeches.

 

Also in attendance during the first day will be Mr. Jerry Franca, President of the Aruba Sport Union, Mr. Jessy Beukeboom, Director of the Recreation and Physical Education Institute and Mr. Hubert Kock, Director of Lotto for the Sport.

 

The agenda include, among numerous issues, the activities reports of the President of NORCECA, Mr. Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, as also the reports by Mr. Edgar Alvarado and Mr. Mushtaque Mohammed on the General Assemblies of AFECAVOL and CAZOVA respectively.

 

Mr. Marte also will produce a report on the participation of NORCECA teams in the Men’s World League and the Women’s World Grand Prix in 2006-07, and in both genders during the 2006 World Championships.

 

The President’s report also will include the Central American and Caribbean Games in Cartagena, Colombia in 2006 and the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2007. The report also includes, the Girl’s and Boy’s World Championships in Mexico and the Junior Men’s and Women’s World Championships in Thailand.

 

Mr. John Griffith and Ms. Miguelina Martinez will present the estimated budget for the period 2008-10, as well as the financial report and the audited report of 2005-06 by Ernst & Young.

 

The representatives of the National Federations also will receive information about the organization process of the next year’s events at different levels as well as report from each one of the different commissions of NORCECA.
